Devon Patterson was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. As a teenager she was afforded an opportunity to work in a community-based theatrical program where her interest in the inner workings of the costume department began. This experience laid the groundwork for her exemplary ability to design, build and maintain costumes.
She attended Purdue University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and later attended the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, graduating with an Associate's Degree in Costume Design.
Upon graduating, Devon set her sights on life in Los Angeles' thriving Television and Film Industry. Her first opportunity came as a 2nd AD on the film "Silent Fury," directed by Eric Louzil. Due to her innately strong work ethic, this film would be the catalyst for her career in costumes, as Devon designed Mr. Louzil's next film, "Fatal Pursuit."
In her 30+ year career, Devon designed blockbuster hits like "Barbershop," but most notably, she has utilized the skills she acquired early on to become one of the industry's most sought after Costume Supervisors, working on the hit shows Blackish, Euphoria, Castle, Medium and Ahsoka.
Devon's been a proud member of the Television Academy since 2008, active in the Costume Designers and Supervisors Peer Group, and is a four-time Emmy nominee in the category of Outstanding Contemporary Costumes for her work on Blackish and Euphoria.
Devon feels blessed and is thankful to those individuals who helped build the strong foundation for her successful career in film and television.
