The Television Academy, based in the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, California, is a nonprofit organization devoted to celebrating and empowering storytellers to push the boundaries of what Television can be. The only major organization fully representing the television and broadband screen entertainment industry, it is made up of over 26,000 members, representing 31 professional peer groups, including performers, directors, producers, art directors and various other artisans, technicians and executives.

The Television Academy recognizes excellence among its peers with the Emmy award, culminating in the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast each fall. The Television Academy also produces several other awards shows and a variety of activities and events for its members throughout the year. These events are featured across the Academy's digital platforms and in its award-winning emmy magazine.

Job Opportunities

Manager, Awards & Membership

This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range of $69,000 to $71,000. The role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Awards & Membership.

Summary of Position

As the Manager, Awards and Membership, you’ll be responsible for managing awards submissions and membership matters for a designated set of Academy peer groups. From reviewing Emmy Awards submissions to supporting members and Governors, your work will help shape the future of television’s most prestigious honors. You'll also play a key role in integrating diversity and inclusion best practices across membership and awards requirements. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Awards Administration 

  • Review and process Emmy Awards submissions, ensuring accuracy and proper categorization. 

  • Manage electronic ballot preparation and screening/voting panels. 

  • Support nominee RSVPs, seating arrangements, and awards logistics. 

  • Track financials related to submission fees, ticket purchases, and certificate orders. 

  • Collaborate with Governors and Peer Group Executive Committees (PGECs) to refine rules and procedures. 

Membership Management 

  • Oversee new membership applications and ongoing eligibility verification. 

  • Research and validate member credits, process approvals/denials, and manage notifications. 

  • Support Governors with peer group executive meetings, member outreach events, and the Governor nominating process. 

  • Identify initiatives to grow and engage the Academy’s membership base.

Executive Assistant, Foundation

This is a full-time non-exempt position. The hourly pay rate ranges from $26 to $28 per hour*. The role reports directly to the Executive Director, Foundation.

Summary of Position

The Administrative Assistant provides executive support to the Executive Director and the Foundation Chairman serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the office of the Executive Director. Serves as a liaison to the Board of Directors and senior management team of both the Foundation and Academy and assures the smooth operation of the Foundation office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Executive Director including managing an active calendar of appointments; completing expense reports; composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed meeting agendas, travel, food and venue coordination; maintaining and updating database of contacts.

  • Maintain and update financial, program and administrative dashboards.

  • Works closely and effectively with the Executive Director to keep her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately.

  • Assures that supplies and materials needed for the Foundation office are ordered, in supply, and well organized.

  • Helps prepare agendas and materials for Foundation meetings and keeps office space in good order.

  • Works with the development team in coordinating the Executive Director's outreach activities.

  • Follows up on contacts made by the Executive Director and supports the cultivation of ongoing relationships.

  • Manages correspondence with current and prospective donors; and gifts to the Foundation.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BA/BS degree preferred

  • 4+ plus years of experience supporting executives

  • Experience in the entertainment industry and specific knowledge about television preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Social Media web platforms, Zoom, Teams and SharePoint. Familiarity with relational database and donor management software a plus.

*The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 annually.

QA Lead, Temp to Hire

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly pay rate ranging from $30 to $36. The role reports directly to the Vice President of IT and requires onsite work three days a week, with the schedule subject to change.

Summary of Position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Lead and tester to oversee the testing process of multiple digital initiatives across the organization. This role combines focuses on quality assurance and requires expertise in managing digital project test plans & scripts, conducting hands-on testing across multiple platforms to identify and resolve issues before deployment. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Testing: 

  • Conduct manual testing on digital platforms, including Web, iOS, tvOS, Android, Android TV, Roku, Fire TV, Samsung, and LG applications. 

  • Provide application testing support for Online Voting platforms to ensure security, reliability, and usability. 

  • Execute End-to-End (E2E) testing, identifying and documenting bugs, inconsistencies, and performance issues. 

  • Perform video quality control (QC) checks, ensuring proper playback, buffering, and resolution across streaming platforms. 

  • Ensure that all bugs and issues are logged efficiently, completely, and informatively in issue-tracking systems. 

  • Work closely with developers and stakeholders to triage, prioritize, and resolve defects. 

  • Continuously improve QA processes, implementing best practices to enhance product quality. 

Project Management, only as needed: 

  • Manage multiple digital initiatives, ensuring projects stay on track from kickoff to launch. 

  • Define project timelines, set meetings, and track deliverables across teams. 

  • Oversee and coordinate vendors and cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and project managers. 

  • Track and escalate technical issues to the VP of IT and relevant stakeholders. 

  • Analyze and report system performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement. 

  • Ensure timely communication and alignment between internal teams and external vendors. 

IT Support, only as needed: 

  • Provide technical support to the Television Academy users via ticketing system, phone, e-mail, or in person, delivering solutions or escalating issues as needed. 

  • Collaborate with other IT team members on various projects, including system upgrades, software rollouts, and infrastructure enhancements.

  • Experience managing multiple vendors and digital teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines. 

  • Video streaming platform experience is a plus

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed during critical project phases. 

  • 4-year degree preferred
