Eric Becker is a freelance Technical Director based in Los Angeles, California. He has won 7 Emmys and garnered 41 nominations. For several years now, Eric has been the main technical director for the Oscars, Grammys, Tony Awards, Emmys, BET Awards, CMA's, AMA's, Golden Globe Awards, Kennedy Center Honors, iHeart Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, Super Bowl Half Time show, American Idol, Grease Live, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more live televised productions.
Eric began his technical directing career working local news at KPIX in San Francisco. In 1989, he moved to Los Angeles to work on sports productions including the NBA on NBC, the NFL on NBC and Hockey Night in Canada. A career highlight, in 1992 he worked at the Barcelona Olympics technical directing basketball with the original Dream Team. Entertainment television was next as Eric shifted to working on game shows, sit-coms, talk shows, late night shows and ultimately to live television specials and award shows.
Eric has played the piano since he was seven and holds a degree in music composition. In addition to playing jazz piano, he composes and arranges choral music and is a published composer and music director.
Eric served as a member of the Lighting, Camera & Technical Arts Peer Group Executive Committee for several years. He is proud to serve as co-Governor for the Lighting, Camera and Technical Arts Peer Group and to serve on the Board of Governors for the Television Academy.
