J. Michael Mendel was an American television producer of animated programming.
A student of Syracuse University, Mendel began his career working in production for James L. Brooks on projects such as Broadcast News (1987), Big (1988), and Jerry Maguire (1996).
He produced several animated television series, perhaps best known for his work on Rick and Morty and The Simpsons, as well as Napoleon Dynamite, Good Vibes, Sit Down Shut Up, Drawn Together, The PJs, and The Critic.
Mendel won Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Programing for his work on Rick and Morty and The Simpsons.
Mendel died September 22nd, 2019, in Los Angeles, California. He was 54.
