Jessica Walter was an American actress and voice-over artist.
She is perhaps most widely recognized as Lucille Bluth from the television series Arrested Development and for her obsessive fan portrayal in Play Misty for Me (1970), opposite Clint Eastwood.
On the big screen, she had roles in Undercover Grandpa (2017), Slums of Beverly Hills (1998), Temptress (1995), Ghost in the Machine (1993), The Flamingo Kid (1984), Going Ape! (1981), The Concorde…Airport ’79 (1979), Grand Prix (1966), The Group (1966), and Lilith (1964).
In television, she had recurring roles in For the People, Bare Essence, The Love Boat, Three’s a Crowd, Trapper John, M.D., Wildfire, Coach, One Life to Live, 90210, Saving Grace, and Good Girls, while guest starring in a number of other series including American Housewife, NCIS, Rules of Engagement, Babylon 5, Murder, She Wrote, Magnum, P.I., Knots Landing, Hawaii Five-O, Barnaby Jones, Ironsides, Columbo, The F.B.I., and Flipper.
Walter also provided the voice of Fran Sinclair on the TGIF series Dinosaurs and of Malory Archer in the FX animated adult series Archer.
In 1974, she won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her work in Amy Prentiss.
Walter died on March 24, 2021, in New York City, New York. She was 80.
