Jim Faris was a picture editor best known for his Emmy-nominated work on the 1970s drama series Family.
Faris also cut episodes of The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet, Cheyenne, 77 Sunset Strip, Lawman, Bus Stop, The Littlest Hobo, The Addams Family, That Girl, Mod Squad, Charlie’s Angels, Dynasty and Gilligan’s Island.
Additionally, Faris served as a postproduction supervisor on Shane, directed an episode of Lawman and edited the 1970 children's special Horton Hears a Who!
The Missouri native moved to Los Angeles in 1943 and began his career at MGM, where he worked on the films Gaslight and National Velvet, and on Tex Avery and Tom & Jerry cartoons.
Faris’s daughter is Valerie Faris, co-director of the film Little Miss Sunshine.
He died October 14, 2016, in Santa Cruz, California. He was 97.
