John Meiklejohn was an American camera operator.
Beginning in the mid-1980s, Meiklejohn worked on hundreds of documentaries, awards shows, standup comedy specials, and live concert events, featuring a wide variety of performers including Andrew Dice Clay, The Rolling Stones, Tori Amos, Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Ellen DeGeneres, Dennis Miller, Conan O’Brien, Justin Timberlake, Steve Martin, Lewis Black, Elvis Costello, and Taylor Swift.
Meiklejohn received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations and eleven Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning a Primetime Emmy in 2012 for his work on The 66th Annual Tony Awards.
Meiklejohn worked with Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, and CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Colbert paid tribute to Meiklejohn on The Late Show a few days after his passing.
Meiklejohn died April 13, 2019. He was 81.
