Lou Scheimer was co-founder of Filmation Studios, the production company he established with producers Norm Prescott and Hal Sutherland in 1963. Filmation produced a long list of popular animated series, including The Archies, Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Bravestarr. In addition, Filmation produced the first animated series for DC Comics, including shows featuring Superman, Batman and Aquaman.
In 1974 Scheimer received a Daytime Emmy for the animated version of Star Trek, and he won a Primetime Emmy in 1977 for the animated special A Fat Albert Christmas.
His live-action credits included Shazam!, Isis and Ark II.
Scheimer died October 17, 2013, at age 85.
