English actor Martin Freeman plays Dr. John Watson on the television series Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia (Masterpiece)which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Una Stubbs. Freeman may also be seen in the role of Lester Nygaard on the FX television adaptation of Joel and Ethan Coen's 1996 film Fargo.

Fans know Freeman for his work as Tim Canterbury in the BBC’s Golden Globe Award-winning version of The Office, which also starred Ricky Gervais and Mackenzie Crook.

In addition to playing the lead role of Bilbo Baggins in the 3-part Peter Jackson adaptation of The Hobbit, the celebrated actor recently returned in his role for the film's final installment, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which is currently in post-production.

An actor of wide range, Freeman has starred in a variety of productions like Love ActuallyThe Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. He played Mike on the television series Hardware and has performed on more programs, including Bruiser, The Last King, The Robinsons Boy Meets Girl and more.
