The tall, striking and versatile actress Uma Thurman, daughter of renowned Buddhist scholar Robert Thurman, left her Massachusetts boarding school at 15 and moved to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a performer. Early success came with roles in films such as The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and Dangerous Liaisons. She went on to appear in Henry & June, Mad Dog and Glory, Batman & Robin, Pulp Fiction (scoring an Oscar nomination) Sweet and Lowdown, Kill Bill: Vols. 1 and 2, The Producers and many others. Her television credits include the HBO movies Hysterical Blindness and My Zinc Bed and, more recently, a multi-episode guest role in the NBC drama Smash, as “Rebecca Duvall,” a Hollywood star seeking to make it on Broadway.
