Virginia L. Carter wore many diverse hats. She was an Emmy-winning producer, production manager, physicist, advisor and activist.
Carter worked closely with Norman Lear as an advisor to consult on social issues that he incorporated into his productions. She later became vice president of creative affairs for Lear at Embassy Television and worked on shows including Maude and All in the Family.
She served as a producer on the series, ABC Afterschool Specials and television movies including "Please Don't Hit Me, Mom," "The Wave," "Eleanor, First Lady of the World," "A Place to Call Home" and "The Facts of Life Down Under." Carter worked as a production manager on CBS Schoolbreak Special and television movies, "Heartsounds" and "Guilty of Innocence: The Lenell Geter Story."
