The rising popularity of documentary films this past decade has brought with it questions about the ethical complexity that comes with producing stories about real-life individuals. People who share their personal experiences and perspectives on screen can face significant risks and sometimes real-life consequences. For the first time, a groundbreaking, large-scale study has asked documentary participants to share their experiences: Would they do it again? What would they change? Grace Anglin, ITVS' Research and Evaluation Director will unpack these eye-opening findings and explore actionable steps to promote more equitable practices in documentary filmmaking.
