Matthew McConaughey, Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto and Lupita Nyong'o took top acting honors at the 86th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Best picture gold went to 12 Years a Slave, while Gravity garnered 7 statuettes.
Hosted by Ellen DeGeneres (who also hosted the Primetime Emmy® Awards in 2001) the 3-1/2 hour gala drew 43 million viewers — its largest television audience in 10 years.
Setting a more casual tone for the ceremony than in previous years, DeGeneres ditched big song and dance numbers for mingling in the seats with the A-list crowd, literally calling out for pizza, and breaking Twitter with the social channel's most retweeteed and celeb-packed selfie to date.

Oscar nominee Pharrell Williams — and his mountie hat, which made a big splash at this year’s Grammy Awards — further elevated the light-hearted feel of the production with his performance of Despicable Me 2 song “Happy.” The rendition featured some lucky local high school student dancers onstage — and a few celebrity ones like Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Lupita Nyong’o, who danced with Williams during a well-received stroll through the audience.
Among acceptance speech highlights, Mexican-born Kenyan Nyong’o reflected on how far she has come with her Supporting Actress win and encouraged others to work towards their heart’s desires: "No matter where you're from, your dreams are valid."
Supporting Actor recipient Jared Leto expressed support for the people of embattled nations Ukraine and Venezuela, along with a considerable tribute to his mother and brother.
