It all began at the Hollywood Athletic Club. Over the ensuing 61 years, however, the Primetime Emmy Awards have been held in a number of storied venues on both our nation's west and east coasts.

1955 - The Emmys go bicoastal: Moulin Rouge in Hollywood and Nino’s LaRue in New York
1956 - Pan Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles and Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York
1957 - NBC’s Burbank Studios in Burbank and the Colonial Theatre in New York
1958 - The Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and NBC Studios in New York
1959 - Moulin Rouge in Hollywood, the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York and the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.
1960 - NBC’s Burbank Studios and the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York
1961 - Moulin Rouge in Hollywood and the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York
1962 - Hollywood Palladium, the Astor Hotel in New York and the Sheraton-Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
1963 - Hollywood Palladium, the Americana Hotel in New York and the Sheraton-Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
1964 - Hollywood Palladium and the Music Hall of the Texas Pavilion at the World’s Fair in New York
1965 - Hollywood Palladium and the New York Hilton
1966 - Hollywood Palladium and the Americana Hotel in New York
1967 - Century Plaza Hotel in Century City and the Americana Hotel in New York
1968 - Hollywood Palladium and the Americana Hotel in New York
1969 - Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and Carnegie Hall in New York
1970 - Century Plaza Hotel in Century City and Carnegie Hall in New York
1971-72 - Hollywood Palladium
1973 - The Shubert Theatre in Century City
1974 - The Pantages Theatre in Hollywood
1975 - Hollywood Palladium
1976 - The Shubert Theatre in Century City
The Creative Arts Awards were handed outin a separate ceremony from the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
1977-1997 - Pasadena Civic Auditorium
The Creative Arts Awards were handed out in separate ceremonies at the Civic’s Exhibition Hall until 1995.
In 1996 the Creative Arts Awards were handed out at Sexson Auditorium at Pasadena City College.
1998-2007 - Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The Creative Arts Awards were handed out at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium until 2002, and at the Shrine from 2003-07.
2008-2009 - NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE for both the Primetime Emmys and the Creative Arts Awards
