The Television Academy has found a new venue for its Film Group members at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, while the Academy’s brand new Media Center is under construction.
The Magnin Auditorium, which holds 350 film-goers, is a state-of-the-art venue featuring stereophonic surround sound and comfortable seating. The Skirball also features a snack bar, a cafe, and free parking.
The Television Academy Film Group is a member benefit available for a small additional fee, and features first-run movies several times a month on Saturday or Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and select evenings at 7:30. To learn how to take advantage of this benefit, please visit the membership benefits page.
Because of the limited number of seats, members are required to RSVP for Film Group screenings through the TelevisionAcademy.com website.
Upcoming films for December include The Gambler and Into the Woods.
Members who wish to have lunch before or after a film can stop in at Zeidler’s Cafe at the Skirball, open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 to 3:30, and on Sunday from 11:00 to 3:30.
For a quick bite, the snack bar, Zeidler’s Cart, is open the same days until 4:30. The cart is also open before evening events.
The cafe features a complete menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, pastas, and specialties such as their Crispy Salmon and Black Bean Cake, vegetable fritatta, and cheese blintzes.
At the snack cart, patrons may get sandwiches, salads, sides and snacks, and even something for the children from the kids’ menu.
The Skirball Center, located in the Sepulveda Pass between West L.A. and the San Fernando Valley, features beautiful grounds and architecture to be explored. The center also offers a number of activities, from exhibitions to courses to lectures and other special events.
