The Los Angeles Public Library is presenting a new photo exhibit "The Industry In Our Backyard: Television Production in Los Angeles 1940s - 1950s". The exhibit includes 31 photographs from the Valley Times and Herald Examiner newspapers from their coverage of local TV production in L.A. These photographs have not ever been seen out of newsprint, and date back to 1947, when KTLA first went on the air.
Mitch Waldow, News Archive Manager for KTTV/KCOP and Fox 11 Television, and Joel Tator, author of the book Los Angeles Television, will discuss the history of local Los Angeles TV news and entertainment programs that were such an important part of life in L.A. Together, they bring back the memories of L.A.'s most iconic characters, trusted names and unforgettable events.

On Saturday, March 10 Adrienne Faillace and Jenni Matz, producers of The Interviews: An Oral History of Television, a program of the Television Academy Foundation, will be showing clips from their video collection of oral history interviews, over twenty years in the making, with television personalities and professionals. Selections will highlight the craft of local television production, the migration of the industry from New York to Los Angeles, the evolution of studios such as Desilu, Warner Bros and KTLA, and tales of experiences shooting on location shoots around Los Angeles.
