The Television Academy has announced that Uzo Aduba, the Emmy Award-winning actress from Netflix's Orange is the New Black, and Emmy Award nominee John Stamos, star of the upcoming FOX series Grandfathered, will present the nominations for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards. Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum will join Aduba and Stamos for the nominations ceremony which will take place on July 16 at 11:30 AM (ET)/8:30 AM (PT) from the SilverScreen Theater at the Pacific Design Center. The nominations will also stream live on Emmys.com.
"Television has never been more robust, available and entertaining," said Bruce Rosenblum. "This year we've had a 40% increase in drama series submissions and close to a 70% increase in limited series submissions, which underscores the wealth of content that's being produced across all platforms by top quality talent in this new golden age of television. We look forward to having Uzo and John join us as we kick off what promises to be an incredible Emmy season."
Additionally, Spike Jones, Jr. will return to produce the nominations ceremony this year, marking the fifth year he has produced the Primetime Emmy nominations announcements.
Aduba currently stars as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren in the critically acclaimed Netflix original series Orange is the New Black. For her role, Aduba won the 2014 Emmy Award for "Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series." She was the winner of the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Award for "Outstanding Actress in a Comedy" and was a part of OITNB's win for "Best Ensemble in a Comedy." Additionally, she won the 2014 Broadcast Television Journalists Association Award for "Best Guest Performer in a Comedy." With her SAG and Emmy honors, Aduba became the first African American actress to win the award in each category. She was also nominated for the 2015 Golden Globe Award for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series, or TV Movie."
Before starring on television, Aduba made her Broadway debut in Coram Boy in 2007, followed by the hit musical revival of Godspell in 2011. She discovered her talent for singing at a very early age and became a classical music major at the Boston University School of Fine Arts.
Emmy-nominated actor and producer John Stamos has had a successful career spanning more than 30 years. This fall, Stamos stars in the new FOX comedy Grandfathered for which he also serves as an executive producer. Additionally, Stamos will produce and guest star in the recently announced season of Netflix's Fuller House, a new multi-camera comedy spin-off of the iconic ABC comedy Full House.
Additional credits for Stamos include General Hospital, and NBC's Emmy and Peabody Award-winning drama ER, along with notable multi-episode television arcs on USA Network's Necessary Roughness, FOX's hit series Glee and NBC's The New Normal. As a producer, Stamos is currently in development with Twentieth Century Fox and Oscar®-winning producers, Neil Meron & Craig Zadan, on a musical feature set to the songs of The Beach Boys.
The 67th Emmy Awards, hosted by Andy Samberg, airs live Sunday, September 20 (8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT) on FOX and will originate from the Microsoft Theater (formerly Nokia Theatre) in Los Angeles. Don Mischer will serve as executive producer for the telecast.
