The Television Academy recognizes the rights of persons with disabilities and has met or exceeded the requirements of compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California accessibility mandates. The Saban Media Center and Wolf Theatre on our campus provide a full range of accommodations for guests with disabilities to ensure their safety, comfort and enjoyment of our events and facilities.
Please note: Events held on our campus include those presented by the Academy and our Foundation, as well as those presented by third-party entities, such as For Your Consideration screenings, panels and receptions.
Accessibility accommodations on the physical premises of our buildings and Plaza are in place at all events.
However, some other accommodations may vary depending on the presenting organization.
The following section highlights our on-site provisions.
Parking
There are nine designated handicap parking spots available in the structure just east of the Saban Media Center. Parking in this lot is available upon a first-come, first-served basis. A valid, state-issued ADA placard or license plate is required for accessible parking.
Additionally, elevator-accessible parking is available on the 3rd and 4th levels. The 2nd level and roof level do not have elevator access.
Facility Access
Ramps are available to provide access to the Saban Media Center, Plaza and Television Academy headquarters building. One ramp is located at the exit of the parking structure, at the front of the Saban Media Center. The ramp to the Plaza is located toward the west side of the headquarters building; at events with a red carpet, this ramp serves as a drop-off point providing access to the carpet for those using it.
Accessible Seating
Accessible seating is available in the Wolf Theatre. There are six wheelchair-accessible seats or positions in the cross aisle, two in the front row and three in the back row. The front and back row seats are accessible by elevator.
In accordance with the ADA, each individual with accessible seating may have a maximum of three companions in the same area. Guests' seats are marked.
Restrooms
All restroom facilities at the Saban Media Center are accessible. Restrooms are located on the Netflix Lobby level, and each includes two accessible stalls. Restrooms on the top floor may be reached via a chair lift, and each includes one accessible stall. All sinks are at a wheelchair-accessible height.
Service Animals
The Television Academy allows guests to bring service animals (as defined under the American with Disabilities Act) to the Saban Media Center. Service animals must be harnessed or leashed at all times, unless special circumstances exist, and must not block any aisles or exits in the Wolf Theatre. Pets are not allowed.
For events presented by the Television Academy or Television Academy Foundation:
Assistive Listening/Visual/Captioning Devices
For Screening Room showings and cinema presentations, the Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Center is equipped with Dolby DAS Devices, which are available on request.
The Dolby Accessibility Solution integrates closed captions (CC) in real time plus amplified audio (HI) for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as blind or low vision narrative audio (VI-N), all on a single dedicated receiver. (Availability may vary by title)
For in-person presentations, the Wolf Theatre is equipped with assistive-listening devices that provide amplified audio, which are available on request.
Live American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation
An ASL interpreter will be present and visible at Academy and Foundation events.
