Please note that requirements (as outlined below) must be met within the four (4) years preceding one's application for membership or membership review; also, such requirements apply in each instance to the production and/or distribution of nationally exhibited audio visual works. All episodes should be a minimum of thirty (30) minutes in length unless defined otherwise specifically for short form programming. Credits from self-published programs alone do not qualify for membership in the Television Academy. Individuals who have received a Primetime, Daytime, or Children's & Family Emmy Nomination, specific to this peer group, within the past four (4) years are eligible for Active membership.
Active Status:
Employment in one of the following positions for a minimum of two (2) years in the last four (4) years:
CASTING DIRECTOR credited on-screen for a minimum of twenty (20) episodes of nationally exhibited content; or five (5) long form programs; defined as a television movie or special running one and one-half (1.5) hours or more in length, all of which must involve principal casting of actors.
Or a credited REALITY SUPERVISING CASTING DIRECTOR or CASTING PRODUCER (or an equivalent title to delineate the most senior person responsible for casting) with on screen credit for a minimum of twenty (20) episodes.
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF CASTING, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF CASTING, VICE PRESIDENT OF CASTING, DIRECTOR OF CASTING OR MANAGER OF CASTING at a network, studio or production company with responsibilities that include supervising casting for nationally exhibited content.
TALENT BOOKER & TALENT PRODUCER with a minimum of twenty (20) episodes for nationally exhibited content. Eligible for program ballot only and may not serve on the peer group executive committee.
Or a qualified body of work relevant to the peer group that warrants a waiver of the above requirements. Body of Work designation has all benefits of Active membership with the exception of running for Peer Group Governor.
Governors - Only one of the two Governors may be a Reality Casting Professional.
Associate Status:
Individuals in the above positions that do not have the required credits or time but have a minimum of one (1) year and (for on-screen credited positions) at least five (5) episodes or two (2) long form programs.
Individuals who have been actively engaged in the area of casting, including the casting of extras or atmosphere, reality or reality competition, including individuals engaged as Associates, Assistants or Coordinators, for a period no less than two (2) years.
Applications are accepted year-round. Application processing time is 4-6 weeks. 2024 Emmy Nominee applications will be expedited!
