Allee Willis was an American songwriter and multi-media artist.

Best known for her collaboration with the musical group Earth, Wind & Fire, Willis co-wrote songs such as "September," "Boogie Wonderland," and "In the Stone." She also wrote for artists such as Gladys Knight and the Pips, Cyndi Lauper, Taylor Dayne, and Rita Coolidge.

Many of her songs were featured in film and on television shows as theme songs, performed on live television or, more recently, for competition: Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Fame (1984), Saturday Night Live, South Park, American Idol, and Britain's Got More Talent.

In 1994, Willis was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Main Title Theme Music for her work on Friends.

Willis died December 24th, 2019, in Los Angeles, California. She was 72.
