Angela Lansbury was a British-American-Irish actress who appeared in theatre, television and film.

Her career spanned seven decades, much of it in the United States, and her work attracted international attention.

In 1983, Lansbury was offered the lead role in Murder, She Wrote, which centered on the character of Jessica Fletcher, a retired school teacher from the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine. Lansbury described the character as "an American Miss Marple". The series was created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson, and William Link.

Angela Lansbury was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1996.

Lansbury died October 11, 2022 in Los Angeles, California. She was 96.
