Eric Justen was a re-recording mixer best known for his Emmy-nominated work on the AMC drama Breaking Bad. Justen worked on all five seasons of the lauded series, including the pilot, and was nominated for his work three consecutive times, from 2012 to 2014, the show’s final three seasons.
With more than 100 credits to his name, the young but prolific re-recording mixer also contributed to the series The Shield, Psych, Numb3rs, The Good Wife, Fringe, Hart of Dixie, Unforgettable, Suburgatory, Pretty Little Liars, The Mysteries of Laura, and Elementary.
Justen also worked on the telefilms Mystery Woman, starring Constance Zimmer; Monster Makers, with Linda Blair and Adam Baldwin; A Time to Remember, with Dana Delany and Doris Roberts; Love’s Enduring Promise, starring Katherine Heigl and January Jones; Gone But Not Forgotten, with Brooke Shields and Lou Diamond Phillips; Everything You Want, starring Shiri Appleby; Icon, starring Patrick Swayze; Where There’s a Will, starring Marion Ross; and Acceptance, starring Mae Whitman.
Justen first began accruing credits in 1999, when he earned his first with the comedy Happy, Texas, starring Steve Zahn and William H. Macy. He went on to contribute to the films All the Rage, starring Joan Allen and Jeff Daniels; Forever Lulu, with Melanie Griffith and Swayze; A Rumor of Angels, with Vanessa Redgrave and Ray Liotta; cult classic Donnie Darko, starring Jake Gyllenhaal; The Fast and the Furious, with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker; Waking Up in Reno, with Billy Bob Thornton, Charlize Theron, and Swayze; In Enemy Hands, with William H. Macy; London, starring Jessica Biel, Chris Evans, and Jason Statham; 10th & Wolf, with James Marsden and Giovanni Ribisi; Man in the Chair, starring Christopher Plummer; You Kill Me, with Ben Kingsley, Téa Leoni, and LukeWilson; and Super, starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page.
Justen had most recently been working on Queen Sugar, an OWN drama from Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey.
Justen died from a heart attack on August 11, 2016, in Los Angeles. He was 43.
