Erin Lee Carr is a two-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker known for her powerful, often hard-hitting documentary work. With 10 films and series under her belt, her notable projects include directing breakout hit Mommy Dead and Dearest for Hulu, At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal for HBO, I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth v. Michelle Carter for HBO, Britney Vs. Spears for Netflix, The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring for HBO, and Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara for Hulu.
She also produced Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini for Hulu, alongside Michael Beach Nichols, and Stormy for Peacock, with Sarah Gibson as director and Judd Apatow as executive producer.
Her most recent project is a scripted series, Murdaugh: Death in the Family, which she co-created, and executive produced alongside Michael D. Fuller for Hulu, based on the hit podcast "Murdaugh Murders by Mandy Matney." Additionally, she directed episode 5 of the show.
In addition to her screen work, Erin is the author of the memoir All That You Leave Behind, a deeply personal reflection on her relationship with her father, journalist David Carr.
Erin divides her time between Los Angeles, New York City, and Connecticut, where she lives with her rescue dog, Bonnie, and her partner. She tries to sleep 8 hours a night.
