Fritz Weaver was a stage and screen performer best known for his Emmy-nominated role in the 1978 miniseries Holocaust. Weaver played Josef Weiss in the four-episode series, which starred Meryl Streep, James Woods and Michael Moriarty.
The actor also frequently appeared on stage, including a Tony Award-winning role in the 1970 drama Child’s Play, about a Roman Catholic school for boys.
Additionally, Weaver had many roles on television, including the anthology series Studio One in Hollywood, Armstrong Circle Theatre, Playhouse 90, and others. He also appeared on The Twilight Zone, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Rawhide, The Fugitive, Gunsmoke, N.Y.P.D., All My Children, Mission: Impossible, Mod Squad, Barnaby Jones, Wonder Woman, Hawaii Five-O, Magnum, P.I., Quincy M.E., Falcon Crest, The Love Boat, Matlock, L.A. Law, The X-Files, Frasier and Law & Order.
His feature film credits included Marathon Man, Creepshow, Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight and The Thomas Crown Affair.
Weaver died November 26, 2016, in New York City. He was 90.
