James L. Aicholtz was an American sound mixer.

With an array of work that spanned from Saturday morning cartoons to major motion pictures, Aicholtz began his career as a sound re-recordist for films such as Terror in the Jungle (1968), Shinbone Alley (1970), The Point (1971), and Gone in Sixty Seconds (1974).

He also worked in television on series such as Murder, She Wrote, Booker, and a number of Perry Mason made-for-television movies.

Aicholtz was the dialogue mixer on the animated series Adventures of the Gummi Bears, the sound mixer on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the re-recording mixer on Mister T, Alvin & The Chipmunks, Darkwing Duck, The Addams Family, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, and What a Cartoon!

In 1989, Aicholtz won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or Special for his work on Lonesome Dove. He earned seven other Emmy nominations, one Primetime and six Daytime, for his work in sound.

Aicholtz died August 16, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. He was 79.
