Jery Hewitt was an American stunt coordinator.

Hewitt was best known for his work on 14 of the Coen Brothers’ films, including The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, and the 2010 remake of True Grit, as well as over 300 episodes of producer Dick Wolf’s Law & Order franchise.

He attended the State University of New York at Farmingdale and graduated with a degree in food science. Hewitt also had an interest in becoming actor, which led to opportunities to perform in a variety of projects in and out of the film industry. In 1979, he landed his first feature film role as the leader of the “Baseball Furies” gang in the cult classic The Warriors.

Hewitt’s other coordinating credits include the films School of Rock, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Sopranos, Reign Over Me, The Manchurian Candidate, Tower Heist, The Birdcage, and Angels in America. He also performed stunts on numerous other films, including Independence Day, Scent of a Woman, Ghostbusters II, and Coyote Ugly.

Hewitt’s most recent credit was the NBC medical drama New Amsterdam.

Hewitt died November 21, 2020, in Warwick, New York. He was 71.
