Joe Morton has amassed a considerable and impressive body of work on the screen big and small as well as on the stage.
Morton studied drama at Long Island's Hofstra University, and made his Broadway debut in Hair. He also appeared on Broadway in Salvation, and was nominated for a Tony Award for Raisin.
No time has the New York native’s professional pedigree been more evident, Scandal fans say, than when he delivered his chillingly powerful, if not painful, speech as Rowan Pope (Olivia’s estranged and larger-than-life father) on the season 3 opener of the popular political drama.
He has acted in more than 70 films including The Brother From Another Planet – the 1984 John Sayles fan fave that helped launch Morton’s film career – and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Morton has performed in key roles on such popular programs as The Good Wife, Law & Order, A Different World and long-running daytime All My Children.
