Kevin Burns was an American producer, writer, and director.

With a master's degree in film from Boston University, Burns moved to Los Angeles in 1988 to take a job in marketing at 20th Century Fox Television.

In the late 1990s, he launched his own company, Prometheus Entertainment, producing documentary-style series for The History Channel, National Geographic, A&E, and the Travel Channel.

Burns created, produced, and wrote a number of episodes for Biography, Monsterama, Backstory, Animal Icons, Food Paradise, America's Book of Secrets, Ancient Aliens, The Curse of Oak Island, and The UnXplained (with William Shatner).

He also produced the series reboot of Lost in Space, The Time Tunnel, and the feature film Poseidon (2006).

In 2002, Burns won a Primetime Emmy for producing Biography and in 2003, he earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Special for Hollywood Rocks the Movies: The 1970s, hosted by David Bowie.

Burns died September 27, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. He was 65.
