Mace Neufeld was an American film and television producer.
After graduating from Yale University, Neufeld worked in the New York music scene, where he not only wrote songs for artists like Dorothy Loudon, Rosemary Clooney, and Sammy Davis Jr., but also the theme for the animated Terrytoons series Heckle and Jeckle.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1961, Neufeld became a talent manager, quickly building an impressive client roster that included Don Adams, The Captain and Tennille, Jay Ward, Randy Newman, The Carpenters, Gabe Kaplan, Don Knotts, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Jim Croce, and many others.
Neufeld produced the groundbreaking 1980s CBS cop drama Cagney & Lacey as well as ABC's eight-hour John Steinbeck miniseries East of Eden, for which he received an Emmy nomination in 1981 for outstanding limited series. Other credits include the TV series Quark, American Dream, A Death in California, Lightning Force, and Outrider, and the made-for-TV movies Angel on My Shoulder, The Owl and the Pussycat, Omen IV: The Awakening, Gridlock, Woman Undone, and Escape: Human Cargo.
He produced all five movies based on Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan CIA analyst, including The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.
Neufeld produced movies that re-imagined previous movies or TV shows, including Val Kilmer's The Saint (1997), the adventure Lost in Space (1998) and the action-packed The Equalizer (2014), starring Denzel Washington.
Neufeld died January 21, 2022 in Beverly Hills, California. He was 93.
