Ranjit Chowdhry was an Indian actor.

Making his acting debut in the Basu Chatterjee film Khatta Meetha (1978), Chowdry found continued success in a number of Bollywood comedies before moving to the United States.

In 1991, Chowdhry wrote and starred in the feature film Sam & Me, winning honorable mention at the Cannes Film Festival and jump-starting his career in American film and television.

Chowdhry went on to appear on the big screen in It Could Happen To You (1994), I’m Not Rappaport (1996), Autumn in New York (2000), and Last Holiday (2006).

He also had recurring roles in the television series Prison Break, The Office, Girls, and Law & Order.

Chowdhry died April 15, 2020, in Mumbai, India.  He was 64.
