Saul Turteltaub was an American comedy writer and producer.

One of the original writers on The Carol Burnett Show, the prolific Turteltaub often collaborated with Bernie Orenstein writing and producing That Girl, The New Dick Van Dyke Show, Love, American Style, Sanford and Son, What’s Happening!!, One of the Boys, E/R, You Again?, Kate & Allie, and Baby Talk.

He was nominated three times for Primetime Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Writing for That Was the Week That Was (1964 and 1965) and for The Carol Burnett Show (1968).

Known also for his generosity and philanthropy, Turteltaub jump-started the careers of Richard Pryor, Garry Shandling, Dana Carvey, Meg Ryan, Nathan Lane, and George Clooney.

Turteltaub died April 9, 2020, in Beverly Hills, California.  He was 87.
