Since childhood, Shana Hagan has been exploring the world through a viewfinder. It began as play, capturing images on her parents' camera and has blossomed into a successful and acclaimed career spanning several decades in the film and television industry.
Shana has had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed filmmakers Michael Apted, Jessica Yu, Morgan Neville, and Rory Kennedy, among others. Her work includes Oscar and Emmy-winning documentaries and her scripted projects have featured renowned directors and writers such as Paul Feig, Jenny Bicks and the Duplass Brothers.
Her current scripted work includes three seasons of the critically acclaimed, Peabody Award-winning HBO series Somebody Somewhere and two seasons of Fox's mockumentary Welcome to Flatch. Her work also includes four seasons of NBC's hit comedy Parks and Recreation and Netflix's Arrested Development. Shana was the first woman to shoot on the immensely popular reality series Survivor, earning an Emmy nomination for her work on Survivor: China.
Shana's documentary filmography boasts notable achievements, including the Oscar-winning Breathing Lessons, the Oscar-nominated Walk Run Cha-Cha, Return to Space directed by Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, Lauren Greenfield's The Kingmaker, and 63Up and Married in America both directed by Michael Apted. Shana won an Emmy for her contributions to the documentary Little Richard: I Am Everything.
Her other work has garnered recognition, with 21 selections at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, including Generation Wealth, Queen of Versailles, and Shakespeare Behind Bars.
As an active member of prestigious organizations including the ASC, DGA, ATAS, AMPAS, ICG, IDA and BAFTA, Shana's contributions to her craft and to the community have been widely recognized and celebrated.
