Zooey Deschanel stars as the quirky Jess Day on FOX’s, New Girl, a role that earned her a TV Guide Award for Favorite Actress and also a 2012 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She’s also known for her portrayal of Natalie Rochlin in Our Idiot Brother, as Summer in 500 Days of Summer, Allison in Yes Man, and as William Miller’s older sister in Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous.
Deschanel is the daughter of Academy Award nominated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel (The Passion of the Christ) and Twin Peaks actress Mary Jo Deschanel. The actress is also a singer/songwriter who has sung in many of her roles, including Jovie in Elf.
She has also performed with actress Samantha Shelton (Monarch Cove) in the jazz cabaret act If All the Stars Were Pretty Babies and with M. Ward under the moniker She & Him.
