In support of our California members impacted by January's wildfires, the Television Academy is excited to collaborate with the California Film Commission and offer an exclusive webinar on navigating the state's tax credit program.
Join us as we help dispel the myths surrounding California's film tax credits and break down the steps of the tax credit application process. Participants will also engage in a Q&A with Leah Medrano, Deputy Director, and Fanshen Cox, DEIA Initiative Manager.

Leah Medrano
Leah Medrano was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom as the Deputy Director at the California Film Commission. In this role, Leah combines her extensive production office experience with 20+ years of State of California public service. She is responsible for overseeing the state's Film and TV Tax Credit Program and Soundstage Filming Program, ensuring these initiatives support the state's thriving film and television industry. Her strategic vision and leadership have significantly contributed to retaining film and television productions in California, along with creation of thousands of creative jobs in the Golden State.Fanshen Cox
Fanshen Cox currently serves as the DEIA Initiative Manager for the California Film Commission's Tax Credit Program. Fanshen founded TruJuLo Productions, a media company dedicated to promoting stories that speak truth in pursuit of justice in service of love. She currently serves as the DEIA Initiative Manager for the California Film Commission's Tax Credit Program. Fanshen served as the Senior Vice President of Development and Impact at Pearl Street Films, founded by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. She is also a co-author of the Inclusion Rider, a powerful tool for promoting diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. The Inclusion Rider was famously announced at the 2018 Oscars by Frances McDormand.
