Congratulations to Bela Bajaria and David Nevins, chair appointees to the Television Academy executive committee, on their continuing success.
Bajaria, executive vice president of Universal TV since 2011, has been promoted to president of Universal Television.
As executive VP, she had been given a mandate to increase production of the studio’s creative output, as well as selling shows to outside networks and producing shows for NBC. The promotion is a result of her success in fulfilling that mandate. Shows launched under Bajaria's leadership include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mindy Project, Bates Motel and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Nevins, currently president of Showtime Networks, will add the title of CEO in January of 2016. This is Nevins’s second promotion in less than five years since coming into Showtime as entertainment president in 2010. Showtime's original programming has flourished under Nevin's direction, with distinctive hits including Homeland, Ray Donovan, Masters of Sex, Penny Dreadful and The Affair.
He will be adding oversight of all operations, including business, legal, HR, and finance to his current duties overseeing programming, sports, marketing, scheduling, research, digital, and publicity.
