Me and My Emmy: Jason Collins

Early on, the makeup artist discovered that makeup is like a magic trick using people's skin.

Emmy Tally: One

How He Got the Gold: For outstanding period and/or character makeup (non-prosthetic) in 2022, for Hulu's Pam & Tommy.

Now for the Noms: Collins won on his first nomination.

Winning Gracefully: "To hear your name called humbles you rather quickly as you stand before that much talent in the room."

Model Mom: "I started doing makeup when I was thirteen. I loved magic, and my mother would take me to magic stores. One day, I found a book on makeup and realized it's like a magic trick using people's skin. The ultimate illusion! My mother was supportive, allowing me to practice on her every day."

Dream Team: "I keep my Emmy in my office so I can show it off. I'm proud of our work and what it represents for my team and me. Nothing is accomplished alone."

Outrageous Effort: "Pam & Tommy was one of those rare projects that was lightning in a bottle. The right team of people coming together to work out challenges, and a producing team that was behind us 100 percent. Most importantly, the actors were willing to go the extra mile."

No Autopilot: "This career is not for the faint of heart. It doesn't allow you to operate on auto. It makes you engage, and I love that!"
