Primetime Emmy Tally: Seven.
How She Got the Gold: Three for Fox's The Tracey Ullman Show (for writing, performing and producing); one each for HBO's Tracey Takes On… and Tracey Takes on… New York (for producing and performing, respectively); and two as guest actress, for CBS's Love & War and Fox's Ally McBeal.
Now for the Noms: Five additional noms for The Tracey Ullman Show (two for writing and three for producing); nine for Tracey Takes On… and The Best of Tracey Takes On… (two for writing, four for performing and three for producing); two performing noms for HBO's Tracey Ullman Live & Exposed and Tracey Ullman in the Trailer Tales; and an additional performance nod for HBO's Women of the Night.
In the Beginning: "I made people laugh at a young age because I could impersonate every one in my family, school, village and, eventually, county. I impersonated our neighbor once, an old spinster with a red nose who wore rubber boots. When I talked about losing my fiancé in the first World War, it made people cry, but that was just as good as being funny."
Magic Moment: "The first Emmy, for The Tracey Ullman Show, was incredibly exciting. Getting executive producers Jim Brooks, Jerry Belson and Heidi Perlman to smile in unison for at least an hour was quite a feat. The following Monday, we had a rather dull read-through of the next show and Jerry said, 'Honey, do you think they might take the Emmy back?'"
Handle with Care: "The statuettes are on a long shelf above a fireplace, high up. They're bloody sharp! They gleam in the sun and make me proud."
