Me and My Emmy: Lynne and Chris Willingham

After the excitement of the Emmys, Lynne and Chris Willingham retreat to their semi-rural "park."

Primetime Emmy Tally: Two editing awards for Lynne, for AMC's Breaking Bad (2008, '09), and three for Chris, for Fox's 24 (2002, '03, '04).

Now for the Noms: One nom for Lynne, as editor of Fox's The X-Files (1998) and two more for Chris, as editor of 24 (2003, '05).

All in a Day: "When I was on 24, it was a brand-new show that was finding itself editorially," Chris recalls. "The split-screen technique was the brainchild of Stephen Hopkins, who directed the pilot. Add to that the constantly moving multi-camera photography and the volume of film we received each day — the challenge of editing it was daunting yet exhilarating."

Not So Bad: "Breaking Bad had so many things going for it," Lynne raves. "It was funny and heartbreaking. Those qualities had to be kept intact even when the action became central. Many of the action sequences in the first two years were very funny, so it was important to maintain the humor while keeping the action amped."

Emmy Memory: "The first win is always the best," Lynne says. "You get up there and look out at the biggest crowd you've ever seen and deliver a speech to lights. I had no idea who was in the audience, but I felt oddly calm."

Chris remembers: "Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks were in the front row when I accepted my first Emmy. In my speech I mispronounced proverbially and was later chided by a friend for using multi-syllabic words when accepting."

Wide Open Spaces: "It's like living in a park," Lynne says of the semi-rural area they call home, northeast of L.A. "The nearest traffic light is eight miles away," Chris adds. "After work and on weekends, it's nice to be away from all the hubbub and chill with the quiet."
