Meet the Governors: Jill Sanford

Name: Jill Sanford

Peer Group: Children's Programming

New or Returning Governor? Returning

Describe your day job: After 15+ years on the executive side, I am currently producing an animated series for Sony as well as developing and producing a few kids and family series and movies independently

Credits of which you're most proud: So many! A few of my faves: Phineas and Ferb, The Loud House, Carmen Sandiego, Last Kids on Earth

Why did you want to be a Television Academy governor? I LOVE television and have always loved the Emmys - I don't think I've ever not watched the Emmys since I was a little girl.

Having the opportunity to be a part of such an esteemed group, influence the future of television, and also get to interact with amazing colleagues truly is a gift I will always cherish. And getting to take my mom to the Emmys was the cherry on top!

What do you hope to accomplish as a governor? Children's Programming has evolved so much over the last 15 years, and even moreso in the last 5 or so with streaming.

Working with NATAS and the Daytime Emmys to move forward in the best way possible so that high quality children's programs are recognized accordingly is a big part of my mission.

Why is the Academy important to the industry? Taking time once a year to recognize and celebrate the best of television is a reminder of why we all got into this business.

But beyond that, the Academy also does so much good through the Foundation and also connecting industry professionals to one another. I am completely honored to represent my peer group in the Academy and have enjoyed it immensely.
