New or Returning Governor? Returning
Describe your day job: I’m the Managing Editor at CBS2/KCAL9 News. I oversee daily content and coverage for the duopoly news operation, while supervising Reporters, Producers and Writers.
Credits of which you're most proud: I was a newscast producer for many years. During that time I was in charge in the control room for live breaking coverage of some of the biggest news stories in LA history.
The list includes the Rodney King Case, the LA riots, The OJ Simpson case, the Northridge Earthquake, brush fires, floods and many more.
Why did you want to be a Television Academy governor? After serving on the LA Area Peer Group PGEC and Awards Committee for many years, I wanted to have the chance to interact with the Board as a whole, to learn more about its efforts and outreach and to bring that information to our Peer group members.
I also wanted to represent those of us in local television here in LA among the greater group
What do you hope to accomplish as a governor? To make sure the LA Area Awards Show is the best it can be for our members and to make sure the LA Area members get the most out of their affiliation with the Academy.
Why is the Academy important to the industry? It’s important to have a place where people from within all aspects of the industry can gather to help chart the future of the business. There is no better organization to promote TV and recognize excellence, through the Emmys.
