Modern Magic
The magical feeling that floats the fortunate from their seats to the stage of L.A.’s Microsoft Theater, then into the night — forever after known as Emmy winners — carried forth once again in emmy’s backstage photo lounge.
There, on mid-century modern sets styled in orange, green and aqua, celebrated photographer Steve Schofield captured Emmy-night delight as winners, presenters and other A-listers posed for portraits.
In his second consecutive year as chronicler of emmy’s night of nights, Schofield witnessed relief, reflection and outright rejoicing as his subjects — singly or in large ensembles — stopped to marvel in the Mad Men-era ambience before moving on to interviews and parties.
The 68th Emmys may be history, but thanks to the artistry of one ever-buoyant Brit (who, incidentally, lensed many of his countrymen that night), the enduring lure of the golden statuette lingers.
These portraits and more appear in emmy magazine, Issue No. 9, 2016
