Meet the Governors: Laura Guzik

Name: Laura Guzik

Peer Group: Costume Design & Supervision

New or Returning Governor? New

Describe your day job: Currently, Costume Supervisor on Criminal Minds.

Credits of which you're most proud: Have worked on everything from The Nanny to Criminal Minds.  Most proud of supervising the first season of Heroes.  It was quite a challenge!

Why did you want to be a Television Academy governor? I’ve been on my PGEC for many seasons and wanted to be more involved with the Academy.

What do you hope to accomplish as a governor? I’d like my peers in general to learn more about the Television Academy and to hopefully participate more. I’d like more peers to join, not just those in line for a nomination.

Why is the Academy important to the industry? Besides recognizing outstanding work in all facets of what we do with EMMY awards, the Academy does so much more. In an ever changing industry, it’s important to nurture up and coming talent as well as to evolve business modes to stay relevant.
